Jissbon (Chinese: 杰 ⼠ 邦 ) is a Chinese sexual wellness brand and manufacturer based in Wuhan, Hubei. The company produces condoms, lubricants,pharmaceuticals, and personal hygiene products. Its products are sold domestically and internationally through retail and online channels.[1][2][3]
History
The Jissbon brand was introduced in China in 1998. The company was incorporated in Wuhan on 12 February 2001 as a foreign-invested joint-stock company.[4]
In 2006, Ansell Limited acquired a majority stake in Wuhan Jissbon, operating it as its Chinese consumer sexual wellness subsidiary.[5]
In 2017, Ansell sold its global sexual wellness business, including Jissbon, to a consortium led by Humanwell Healthcare and CITIC Capital for USD 600 million. Humanwell later restructured its holdings in LifeStyles Healthcare Pte. Ltd.[6][7]
In 2022, Linden Capital Partners acquired LifeStyles Healthcare’s business outside China. The rights to Jissbon in China were not part of the transaction and remained with the seller.[8]
In 2023, Bloomberg and Bloomberg Law reported LifeStyles China (incl. Jissbon) was considering a HK IPO of about USD 300 million.[9][10]
Operations
Jissbon operates manufacturing facilities in Wuhan, Xianning, Dongguan, Tianjin, and overseas bases in Thailand and India. Its Wuhan site includes research and development for reproductive health drugs and production lines compliant with Chinese GMP and FDA standards.[11][12]
In China, Jissbon distributes products through pharmacies, supermarkets, convenience stores, and ecommerce platforms. Internationally, sales are concentrated in online retail, with a focus on sexual wellness devices.[13][14][15]
Products
Jissbon produces a range of sexual health and wellness products, including condoms, personal lubricants, and sexual wellness devices. The brand also markets pharmaceuticals for reproductive health and personal care items such as intimate hygiene products.[16][17][18]
Public Health
Since its early years, Jissbon has been involved in HIV/AIDS prevention and sexual health campaigns in China. The company has donated condoms for major events, including the Beijing 2008 Olympics, the 2010 Shanghai Expo, the 2010 Asian Games, and the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics.[19][20][21]
Recognition and awards
Market research firm iiMedia has ranked Jissbon among the leading condom brands in China. It placed third in the firm's 2019 Valentine’s Day Condom Brand Ranking[22] and second in its list of the top ten Chinese condom brands for the first half of 2022..[23][24][25]
