Josephine "Jo" Brooke Karev (née Wilson; formerly Stadler), M.D. is a fictional character on the ABC television series Grey's Anatomy, portrayed by actress Camilla Luddington. Introduced as a surgical intern at the fictional Seattle Grace Mercy West Hospital. Wilson eventually obtained the position of resident. Her relationship with colleague Stephanie Edwards and romance with Alex Karev formed a focal point of the series.
Development[edit]
In August 2012, it was announced that Camilla Luddington was cast as Jo Wilson for the ninth season of Grey's Anatomy with option to become a series regular should the show be renewed for a tenth season.[1][2] In June 2013, it was announced that Camilla Luddington has been promoted to a series regular for the tenth season.[3]
Storylines[edit]
Season 9[edit]
In the ninth season, Jo begins as an intern at Seattle Grace Mercy West Hospital with Stephanie Edwards, Leah Murphy, Heather Brooks and Shane Ross. Initially Jo is seen as the weak intern and is the intern selected to perform her first surgery which she fails (like George in season one). She eventually develops more confidance, starts a friendship with Alex Karev and begins to date Jason Myers, another doctor. Jo and Jason became closer until he becomes violent towards her, which causes her to attack him after he attacked her first. Alex helped Jo to prevent Jason from going to the police. In the season finale, Jo and Alex begin their relationship.
