Joal Kamps (pronounced: joel camps) (born May 19, 1983) is an independent, award-winning Canadian folk musician from Calgary, Alberta. He has toured multiple times throughout western Canada[1][2][3][4] and the Netherlands.[5] His debut album Sojourner (released Jan 1, 2011) won several prestigious industry awards including a 2012 Western Canadian Music Award (WCMA)[6][7][8] and a 2012 Independent Music Award (IMA).[9] His sophomore album Heads Is East, Tails Is West (released Apr 1, 2014)[10] debuted at #2 on Earshot's National Folk/Roots/Blues charts (May 20, 2014)[11] and was nominated for a 2015 WCMA.[12] Kamps also won an International Songwriting Competition (ISC) award in 2014[13] and performed on CTV National's Canada AM.[14][15][16]
