Jodi DeMarco O'Donnell-Ames is an American public speaker, educator and author who founded a non-profit organization, Hope Loves Company, that helps families impacted by amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS).

Biography[edit]

O'Donnell-Ames graduated from The College of New Jersey in 1988.[1]

O'Donnell-Ames worked as a language arts teacher in the Eastampton Township School District from September 1988 until June 1992. She served as Director of Communications for the ALS Hope Foundation from 2001 to 2003,[2] and has volunteered for the organization since March 2002. She founded Hope Loves Company in 2007 after losing her husband, Kevin O'Donnell, to amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and served as board president from February 2007 until November 2018.[3]

Awards and honors[edit]

In 2015, O'Donnell-Ames was chosen as People Magazine's "Hero Among Us" for her work with Hope Loves Company and the ALS community.[4] In 2018, she was recognized as a TIAA Difference Maker Honoree, also for her work with Hope Loves Company.[5] Also in 2018, O'Donnell-Ames was the Honoree of the Russ Berrie Making a Difference Award.[6] She was awarded the TCNJ Alumni Leadership Award in 2019, specifically the Humanitarian Award for her philanthropic projects and "exceptional concern and dedication to the well-being of others."[7]
