College career[edit]

Gray committed to San Jose State on October 7, 2010 and later signed his letter of intent to play. There was speculation he would take over as a true freshman for departed senior Jordan La Secla but was beat out by Matt Faulkner and redshirted. He threw 4 passes his Redshirt Freshman year for 24 yards. He did not play his sophomore season but is expected to win the starting spot in 2014 to replace departed Quarterback David Fales and beat out Senior Blake Jurich.
