Joseph Edward O'Connor is an English professional footballer who plays as an attacking midfielder for League Two club Exeter City. He played on loan at Tavistock during the 2022–23 season and turned professional with Exeter in March 2023.
Career[edit]
O'Connor joined the Academy at Exeter City at the age of eight and started his two-year scholarship with the club in August 2021.[3][4] He played for the under-18s in the EFL Youth Alliance and FA Youth Cup.[4] He played on the losing side of the Devon St Luke's Bowl final in May 2022.[4] He joined Southern League Division One South side Tavistock on loan on 5 July 2022, along with teammate Aamir Daniels, with the loan deal to run until the end of the 2022–23 season.[2][5] He made his senior debut for Exeter City on 18 October 2022, after coming on as a 73rd-minute substitute for Gabriel Billington in a 4–1 defeat at Forest Green Rovers in the group stages of the EFL Trophy.[6] He returned to his loan at Tavistock on 8 December.[7] He turned professional at Exeter in March 2023.[8]
Style of play[edit]
O'Connor is an attacking midfielder with good technical skills and footballing intelligence, though as a youngster in 2022 was lacking in physicality.[2]
