Joel Contartese (born December 18, 1990) is an Argentine brand and marketing strategist.[2] He is perhaps best known for pioneering influencer marketing monetization on the social media platform Instagram.[3][4]
Early Life[edit]
Contartese was born and raised in Buenos Aires, Argentina until the age of 9.[5] In 2000, he moved with his family to the United States later that year he was left undocumented.[6] Prior to becoming an American citizen, he was unable to obtain traditional employment which led him to become an entrepreneur.[7][8]
Career[edit]
After dropping out of college,[9][10] Contartese co-founded Next Level Entertainment in 2009. It wasn't until April 2014 that he started his first social media marketing company, WeDoFollowers. He then founded Media Monsters in November 2016 as an avenue to offer broader brand development services.[11] From 2014 to 2017, Contartese allocated upwards of $10 million in influencer marketing budgets.[12][13] Joel was admitted to the Forbes Communications Council as an avenue to share his knowledge of digital marketing.[14][15]
As of November 2017, Joel has 13.8k followers on instagram.[16]
