Joelle Wyser-Pratte, also known as Joelle O'Reilly-Hyland is the co-founder of the Ounavarra Foundation and is a regular public speaker on the topic of female education. She supports educational causes throughout the world, mainly specializing in female education. She sits on the board of Education Girls Globally (EGG), which was created to improve girls’ enrollment, retention and academic performance in government schools in India and Africa.[1]

Wyser-Pratte also sits on the advisory board of the Global Partnerships Forum, which brings together leaders from the public and private sectors to address global challenges. She also sits on the board of the Mariposa DR Foundation, a non-profit dedicated to advancing girls educations and empowerment throughout the Dominican Republic.[2]

Early life and education[edit]

Wyser-Pratte graduated from Tufts University with degrees in English and International Relations in 1991. In 1992, she began work managing a portfolio of Pier Funds. From that point on, Wyser-Pratte has been a boutique investment professional with many years of experience through all the market cycles.

Career[edit]

After starting her career in finance, Wyser-Pratte quickly moved to setup her own investment firm. In 2007, she was the co-founder of Ounavarra Capital LLC.[3] The company was setup as an independent investment boutique.[4]

As part of the Ounavarra Foundation, she hosted a number of events including the launch of the book "Abundance: The Future Is Better Than You Think"[5] and other charitable events.[6]

Since the foundation of Ounavarra, Wyser-Pratte began to become involved in girls' education. This involvement led her to become a board member of Education Girls Globally (EGG). After becoming a board member of charitable organization, she moved into the public eye and openly discussed the education of girls globally.

In 2011, Wyser-Pratte helped Educate Girls Globally achieve a number of goals through the creation of a new model, to help improve girl’s education globally, after a successful pilot in India.[7]

On the US Election Day 2012, O’Reilly-Hyland featured in the press discussing the breakdown of males and females in the United States Congress, where women had won a record number of seats.[8] In the same year, she also brokered a deal with AfriCare on behalf of EGG, which allowed Educate Girls Globally to move their operations into Africa.[9] Later that year, O’Reilly-Hyland also announced the creation of a new website, where she would provide the ins and outs of starting up and running a charitable organization.[10]

In 2013, she also announced a partnership deal between Global Partnerships Forum and Educate Girls Globally.[11]

Personal life[edit]

She lives in NewYork with her husband Paul O'Reilly-Hyland. The couple have three children together: Louisa O-Reilly-Hyland, Ogden O-Reilly-Hyland, Oliver O-Reilly-Hyland. [12]
