Bertil Baluba (born July 1, 1991), known by his stage name Joey BASE[1], is a British-Congolese musician from Lewisham, London. Better known for his single's "Living In The Moment" which peaked at number 68 on the iTunes world chart and Playlisted by Spotify on the day of its release on the "New Music Friday UK" playlist whilst still unsigned and most recently "Summer Rain" Peaked at number 13 on the iTunes world chart. The two tracks were Playlisted on National radio Rotation on Sacha Brooks night show on Capital FM.[2] His music video "Pattern Up" Reached 2 Million views in a matter of Months after being Playlisted on spotify's Rap UK playlist. Joey opened up for Byline Festival in 2018 at Pipping Park
Joey BASE released his debut Single, ‘’Do My Way’’, in 2015 featuring Mista Silva. In 2016 Joey released his second single, “Ready For Me". Joey went on to release “Here For Love”, “Solely” featuring Potter Payper, “Heartless”, “Life Over Circumstances” and “Streets Or A Lady” in 2017. In 2018 he released “Pattern Up”, “Living In The Moment” & "Summer Rain" featuring Tracy Leanne.
He has had his music played by national radio stations such as Capital Xtra.[3], Capital FM,[4] BBC1xtra.[5] He has attended London fashion week as a vip guest seated on the front row and was pictured by GQ magazine in 2017.[6] Joey has been labelled breakthrough artist of the year blogged by Guestlist.[7] The Babestation Model also appeared in Joeys music videos "Streets or a lady" and "Pattern Up".[8][9] Joey was praised by online publisher Conversations about her for his unique Afroswing melody combined with his gritty rap style.[10]
Joey is now managed by Warren Askew, best known for discovering Estelle and his work with VV Brown, Stacey Soloman, Executivly producing Peter Andres Album Accelerate[11][12] and reuniting The band Happy Mondays for a tour and album.[13]
