John James Adams [1] (born 10 September 1978) is an English film producer, entrepreneur and military consultant. He has acquired 79 production credits over last 15 years, 27 of which he was a credited producer. Many of these projects were made with budgets ranging from under £50k to over £100m.[2]

Personal life[edit]

Adams grew up in Essex. He was educated at King Edward VI Grammar School, where he joined the Combined Cadet Force and Corps of Drums. This led to him becoming a Senior Army Cadet and a year as Drum major. John was commissioned as an Officer in the British Army after attending The Royal Military Academy Sandhurst in 1996. In the middle of his stint in the army, John spent three years studying English at Royal Holloway, University of London, graduating with an upper second. Throughout his university career, he assisted in the training and development of future young Army Officers, under the Officers' Training Corps. During his time in the army, he was a Mechanised Infantry Platoon Commander and subsequently as Battalion Training Officer with the Second Battalion, the Royal Anglian Regiment in the UK. His progression into film began with his extensive military knowledge.

He has a 2nd Dan Black Belt in Judo, and is also a fully qualified self-defence and unarmed Combat Instructor and a qualified sports coach. In his spare time, John is a keen sportsman, mainly in fencing and martial arts, and is an accomplished Grade 8 musician. He often plays rhythm and blues songs in live venues around England.

Career[edit]

John was a consultant on Band of Brothers, for Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks. Through this, John and several ex-military colleagues formed Universal Combat,[3] a UK based agency to specialise exclusively in providing military advice, with the intention of providing support to the entertainment industry. The company went on to provide advice and personnel to numerous films, TV shows, video games, commercials and live events as well as forging strong links with film industry armourers and security companies.

Gaining experience in the film industry through Universal Combat, John delved into assistant directing and script editing, and merging into writing and producing. His production company, Angry Badger Pictures,[4] specialised in developing, producing and delivering commercial motion picture product for the international marketplace. One of the company's most notable work was the British comedy The Magnificent Eleven,[5] a film loosely based on the classic spaghetti western The Magnificent Seven. Set in East London, the film focuses on a failing football team needing sponsorship from a local Indian restaurant, featuring Keith Allen and Robert Vaughn. Another is also, S.N.U.B![6]

John was also a consultant at various sales agencies. He has also freelanced as an assistant director, line producer and producer. These include productions for Raw TV for Discovery Networks. He holds additional directorships of Midlands based digital production studio Stone Circle Productions and Liverpool based Get Back Films.

In 2015 John founded the integrated finance, production international sales and distribution company Evolutionary Films.
