John Armstrong (born February 26, 1988) is a Canadian ice hockey centre who currently plays for the Sheffield Steelers of the Elite Ice Hockey League (EIHL). He previously played with the Abbotsford Heat of the AHL, top minor team for the NHL's Calgary Flames. He was selected by Calgary Flames in the 3rd Round (87th overall) of the 2006 NHL Entry Draft.

Playing career[edit]

Armstrong was signed by the Calgary Flames to a three-year entry-level contract on December 27, 2007.[1]

A Free Agent upon completion of his entry level contract, Armstrong remained with the Flames affiliate's the following season. He attended the Chicago Wolves AHL training camp for the 2012–13 season, before he was released and signed to the Kalamazoo Wings of the ECHL on October 7, 2012.[2]

On May 30, 2014, Armstrong opted to pursue a European career, signing an initial one-year deal with Norwegian club, Lillehammer IK of the GET-ligaen.[3]

John Armstrong signed with Odense Bulldogs for the 2015-16 season. On June 15, 2016, after helping the Bulldogs secure the Danish Championship he signed a two-year contract with English based Elite Ice Hockey League club, the Sheffield Steelers.
