John Boni
John Anthony Boni (July 3, 1937 – March 9, 2019) was an American screenwriter and a producer. He wrote and produced many shows and movies like 227, The Electric Company, Three's Company, The Bad News Bears, Lotsa Luck, When Things Were Rotten and many more. He also created When Things Were Rotten with Mel Brooks and Norman Stiles in 1975.
He was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA. He was first married to Rita O'Connor a female actress and secondly married to Donna Pode a female writer. They both had three children named Sasha, Gabrielle, and Mario.
He won an Emmy Award, his award being the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Achievement in Children's Programming - Informational/Factual in 1973. He also received nominations for the WGA Award for Best Variety Series or Special: Musical or Comedy-Television in 1973, the Writers Guild of America Award for Best Comedy/Variety Specials in 1975 and the Primetime Creative Arts Emmy Award for Outstanding Writing for a Variety Series in 1975 and 1978.
John retired and moved to Durham in 2003 with his second wife Donna Pode and their son. Then, in March 2019, John died in Duke University Hospital of lung cancer at the age of 81.
