John Chiminski

John Chiminski is an American engineer and business executive. Since 2009 he is the CEO of the pharmaceutical manufacturer Catalent. Under Chiminski's leadership Catalent became a publicly traded company in July 2014.[1] From 2007 to 2009, Chiminski was the President and CEO of General Electric Medical Diagnostics.[2] Prior to that he served in various engineering, operations and management roles in GE Healthcare leading GE's X-ray, vascular and computed tomography technology development and is credited[3] for introducing in 1998 GE LightSpeed, the world's first multi-line CT scanner.[4]

In June 2020, Chiminski announced[5] a deal to manufacture at least 100 million doses of Moderna COVID-19 vaccine. As of December 2020, Catalent has been producing daily about 500,0000 doses of the vaccine at its biologics facility in Bloomington, Indiana. [6]

Early Life and Education[edit]

John Chiminski grew up outside of Detroit, MI where his father Walter worked in the manufacturing industry as a skilled tradesman. [7]

Chiminski received a BS in Electrical Engineering from Michigan State University in 1986, an M.S. from Purdue University School of Electrical and Computer Engineering in 1987 and an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University in 1996.[8]

Awards and Recognition[edit]

Chiminski received an outstanding alumnus award from Purdue University School of Electrical and Computer Engineering in 2006 and was named a Distinguished Engineering Alumnus by Purdue University College of Engineering in 2012.[9]

In 2019 he was selected as the inaugural recipient of CPhl Pharma Lifetime Achievement Award.[10]
