John Chizoba Vincent[1] (born May 18, 1990) is a Nigerian film director, cinematographer[2][3] and screenwriter[4]. He was born and raised in Aba, Abia State, Nigeria. Later he moved to Lagos, where he pursued his tertiary education and established much of his creative career. He is from Nkporo in Ohafia, Abia state. He is a graduate of Mass Communication from Lagos State University of Science and Technology.[5] Chizoba's Films have been screened at the Sao Paulo Film Festival, and African International Film Festival in Lagos.

Early Life

John Chizoba Vincent was born in 18 May, 1990 in Aba, Abia state, where he was raised by his parents. He spent part of his childhood between Aba and Nkporo.[6]

Career

Vincent has published several poems.[7] He was shortlisted by EGC as one of Nigeria’s notable poets in 2017, 2018, and 2019.[8] He has authored several books and poetry collections including Hard Times,[9] Good Mama, Letter from Home, and For Boys of Tomorrow.[10][11] He is the editor of the "Boys Are Not Stones" anthology, an anthology created to celebrate boys and men alike. They have four collections in the series which includes: Boys are Not Stones,[12] Anatomy of Boys, Men and Others,[13]Country of Broken Boys,[14] and Demigods.[15] Vincent contributed to the books Wreaths for a Wayfarer,[16] a book published in honour of Pius Adesanmi, and 84 Delicious bottles of Wine[17] for Wole Soyinka in celebration of his 84th birthday.

John Chizoba Vincent[18] is the founder of The Philm Republic, an independent production outfit. Some of the films he has written include: Love In The Strangest Place, To Love A Street Girl, Love Birds, Pride and Seduction,[19] Differences, Married To An Influencer, When Life Happens, Daughtas, Broda Amos, Don't call us water, Resident 38 and Love and Respect.
