John E. Deaton is an American attorney, former U.S. Marine, cryptocurrency advocate and is currently a candidate in the 2024 United States Senate election in Massachusetts.[1] He is the Managing Partner of Deaton Law Firm,[2] which he founded in 2006. Deaton has a distinguished legal career, specializing in asbestos litigation, products liability, toxic torts, and personal injury. He has served as a principal trial attorney in New York, Rhode Island, and Connecticut, earning a reputation as an aggressive yet fair advocate. Before his legal career, Deaton served in the United States Marine Corps, achieving the rank of Major and earning commendations for his service.

Early Life and Education[edit]

John Deaton was born in Detroit, Michigan, and grew up in the Highland Park neighborhood. Despite facing numerous challenges, including violence, physical and sexual abuse, and economic hardship, Deaton became the first in his family to graduate high school. He earned his undergraduate degree Magna Cum Laude from Eastern Michigan University in 1989. Deaton then attended the New England School of Law, graduating Cum Laude Eastern Michigan Universityin 1995. During law school, he joined the United States Marine Corps, where he served as a federal prosecutor and criminal defense attorney.

Legal career[edit]

After being medically retired from the Marines in 2002, Deaton established his law practice in Rhode Island. His firm, Deaton Law Firm, focuses on providing personal attention to clients, particularly in asbestos litigation. Deaton has tried cases against national defense lawyers, litigation firms, and high-profile corporations and secured several victories for his clients. He has also represented victims of mesothelioma, cancer, and asbestos exposure, and has become involved in cryptocurrency, aiming to leverage the technology to assist the underprivileged and unbanked.
