John Gwynne (born Singapore) is a English author of epic fantasy. He is mostly known for writing the The Faithfull and the Fallen series of novels.[1]

Biography[edit]

Gwynne studied and lectured at Brighton University. He has played double bass in a rock'n'roll band, packed soap, been a French restaurant waiter, and worked on landscaping and carpentry crews. He is married with four children and a handful of dogs.[1]

Together with his wife Gwynne runs a small family business in rejuvenating vintage furniture. He is also fond of training for battle with the spear, sword, and shield on the South Downs.

Gwynne didn't start writing until his early thirties after his wife and children had encouraged him to do so. His debut novel, Malice, the first book in The Faithfull and the Fallen series, was inspired by epic and heroic fantasy, with a mix of mythology and history. Malice was first published in 2012 by Pan Macmillan and went on to win the David Gemmell Morningstar Award for Best Fantasy Debut of 2012. The next three novels in the series were all shortlisted for the David Gemmell Legend Award for Best Fantasy Novels of 2014, 2015, and 2016.[1]
