John J Pezzin (born April 9, 1986) is an American professional mountain bike rider from Swanton, Ohio, a township just outside Toledo. He is known for his aggressive freestyle riding with his signature trick being the back flip tail-whip. Other tricks frequently executed during competition include the backflip tuck no-hander, 360s, and superman seat-grab. John is sponsored by Spank Bikes and The Right Direction Youth Development Program.[1] In 2016, John placed 51 in the Maxxis Slopestyle event at the Colorado Freeride Festival on July 27, 2016, which is the largest freeride bike competition in the United States with over 800 riders.[2][3] The event, held at Trestle Bike Park in Winter Park, Colorado, was dominated by performances from Matt Jones and Nicholi Rogatkin.[4] Placing 7th in the event was Ryan Nyquist who has been competing in slopestyle mountain biking since 2015. Pezzin and his cousin Dan Pezzin were the founders of Greenhouse Construction Services, which builds greenhouses across the Colorado Front Range and southern Wyoming. John is named after his grandfather John Pezzin, the former world record holding bowler who is known for rolling 33 consecutive strikes at Miracle Lanes during the Blade Traveling Classic on March 4, 1976.[5]
