John Lincoln (born November 24, 1958) is a senior vice president in Etisalat and author of a book on business.[2][3] He has more than 30 years of top level management experience in start-ups, telecom giants and technology companies across USA, UK, Japan, UAE, India, Brazil, Malaysia and Thailand. He is presently serving as SVP at Emirates Telecommunications Corporation for Small and Medium Businesses (SMB).

Early Life and Education[edit]

Lincoln was born in Malaysia on 24th November, 1958. He migrated to San Francisco, California in 1989 and is a naturalized US Citizen. He earned his MBA in 1994 and did Masters of Science in Telecommunication in 1997 from Golden Gate University, San Francisco, USA.[4]

Career[edit]

Lincoln started his professional career in Telecommunication in Pacific Bell (now AT&T) and soon moved up the corporate ladder becoming a senior manager of strategy. From there on, he held positions at various telecommunication companies in USA, Japan, UK, India, UAE & Thailand.[5]

In 1991, he served as the Senior Manager – Strategy of Pacific Bell in San Francisco, USA. He became the Director of Corporate Development in Air Touch Communications in 1996. Then from 1997 to 1999, Lincoln worked as Marketing Director (seconded as General Manager) in Japan in the same company. Here Lincoln shouldered the overall responsibility for customer marketing, relationship marketing, loyalty plans, CRM, handset and area coverage and life cycle management. In December 1999, he started his own business named eXLearn,[6][7] Inc risking a lot of his capital. He failed in his business venture, after a year he assumed responsibility in Nazomi Communications as the Vice President - Business Development (Santa Clara, Silicon Valley, USA).[8] John Lincoln was recruited at Japan Telecom in 2002, where he was in charge of the marketing and revenue. After working for several multinational telco’s he served as the head of commercial strategies for Vodafone, UK, from 2004 to 2006.

Lincoln was responsible for handling segmentation, insights, analytic and business intelligence across all business units in Airtel.[9] He was appointed as the managing director for Devonshire, Tokyo, Japan in 2007, where Lincoln worked for a period of one year.

Since 2008 September, John has been in U.A.E where he has worked for Du and Etisalat[10] in various positions such as Vice President – B2B marketing (Du),[11] SVP Business Marketing (Etisalat).[12][13] In April 2016, John Lincoln appointed as a member of the board of directors of Smart World representing Etisalat.

Publication[edit]

John authored a book named Connect the Dots, published by AuthorHouse in 2012, after he had invested USD 600,000 into his business, which later had to close after 1 and half years.[14][15][16][17] This experience laid the foundation for his book which was released in 2012.[18] Connect the Dots was reviewed on Gulf News[19] and mentioned in The National.[20]
