John M. Guard is an American lawyer who is a nominee to be a United States District Judge of the United States District Court for the Middle District of Florida.[1]

Education

Guard earned his Bachelor of Arts from Florida State University in 1997, and received his Juris Doctor from Tulane University Law School in 2000.[2]

Career

Guard is the chief deputy attorney general of Florida, briefly serving as acting Florida attorney general after the resignation of the previous incumbent Ashley Moody.[3]

Nomination to district court

On June 16, 2025, President Trump announced his intent to nominate Guard to serve as a United States District Judge for the United States District Court for the Middle District of Florida. His nomination is currently pending before the Senate Judiciary Committee.[4]
