Early life[edit]

John Mgbemena was born on May 11, 1994, in Atlanta, Georgia to Jacob Mgbemena and Evelyn Mgbemena. He is the middle child with two older and younger brothers. He attended Riverdale High School, where he played basketball and was a scholar-athlete, which led him to attend Georgia State University, where he graduated with a degree in Biology.[1]

Mgbemena started his modeling career in 2013 at the age of 19, after auditioning for the Georgia State University African Student Association fashion show.[2][3] Mgbemena has since appeared in editorials for various publications, multiple fashion shows, and brand ambassador campaigns, notably Fashion Nova, Bronner Bro, Macy, Dillards, and Black Doctor.[4][5][6] He was on the covers of Healthy Black Men, AU COURAG, and Style n Soul magazines.[7][8][9] His name was featured as a Nigerian model on the Marika magazine June issue.[10] Nonetheless, publications such as Medium, London Daily Post, and The American Reporter have featured him, not only for modeling but for acting and music as well.[11] Furthermore, he was featured in an article by Obvious magazine as a rising model to watch.[12]

Mgbemena’s acting career started when a talent agency reached out to him through his Model Mayhem profile and booked him for a supporting role on Murder Chose Me, a crime drama on Investigation Discovery channel. Mgbemena then appeared as himself on Chrisley Knows Best, which premiered on the USA network.[citation needed] Since then, he has done several other television shows, print ads, and commercials. It includes; ESPN Gameday Pizza Hut commercial, Adidas Arizona St. Sun Devils NCAAF Uniform campaign, and Fatal Attraction, a crime drama TV series.[13][14] Additionally, Mgbemena has worked with the likes of J Cole, 21 Savage, 2 Chainz, and other artists playing unique roles on various music videos.[15][16]

Mgbemena is also an independent artist and goes by the artist name Caesar. His music career began when he dropped his first single, “Never Gave Up,” through a distribution company. The single gained great notoriety once played on the radio. Soon after, they requested him for an interview with BuzzMusicLa.[17] Mgbemena talked about the story behind his artist name Caesar, as well as the creative process behind his single “Never Gave Up.” After much hype on his single, he then dropped an independent album called “I Hate it Here” on November 17, 2020. The project captured the attention of Thisis50, a site created by the artist 50 Cent, and led to an interview discussing his artistry.[18][19]
