Biography[edit]

Born and raised in Erie, PA to the late John and Elizabeth Trigilio, John Trigilio is the eldest of five children. After attending High School and College Seminary in Erie, Trigilio began to study for the Diocese of Harrisburg, graduating from Mary Immaculate Seminary in Northampton, PA. He was ordained a Catholic Priest in 1988 by William Cardinal Keeler, who was then Bishop of Harrisburg. In his early priesthood, Trigilio's assignments included assistant pastor in two parishes, working in the diocescan tribunal, and as a hospital chaplain. From 2002 to 2018 Trigilio was pastor of two parishes in Marysville and Duncannon, PA. In 2004, he earned his doctorate from LaSalle University.[8] Trigilio was in an automobile accident in 2012 while driving back to the parish after visiting his mother in Erie, which left him in the ICU for three days.[9] He began working in 2013 as a part time faculty member at Mount St. Mary's Seminary, assisting seminarians as a spiritual director and formation advisor while still serving at his two parishes. In 2018, he was appointed Director of Pastoral Formation at Mount St. Mary's.[10] Currently, Trigilio is the weekly host of EWTN Radio's Open Line Monday, and is a regular guest host on Catholic Answers.[11] His media programs and books are geared towards apologetics, and have been noted for their "casual" approach to common questions regarding the Catholic faith.[12]
