Johnny is a former Indian actor, who worked in Tamil-language films.

Career

He debuted in R. Panneerselvam's Renigunta (2009) alongside Sanusha. It was distributed by his father S. S. Chakravarthy's banner, NIC Arts.[2] Although the film was released to positive reviews, the response to his performance was mixed. One critic noted, "Johnny seems to start off well at first, but afterwards, his face is as expressionless as the boulders dotting the dry Andhra Pradesh landscape. Perhaps he's been taught to emote this way -- if so, it's hardly effective. His sudden change from silent, unsure youth to slam-bang fighting machine are, to put it simply, unbelievable"[3] whilst another critic wrote, "Johnny has not been given much dialogue".[4] A critic from Ananda Vikatan wrote that Johnny plays a pathetic character and is the same throught the film except for when he bites the villain.[5]

After the success of Renigunta, he worked again with Panneerselvam and his father for his next film 18 Vayasu (2012) alongside Gayathrie Shankar.[2][6] Regarding his performance, a critic wrote, "With his awkward shuffling gait and stammer, it’s fascinating to see Johnny fall in line with the character, as he barks like a dog, bellows like a bull and hisses like a snake when taunted or emotionally stressed" whilst another wrote, "Jacky, who impressed in his earlier films such as Renigunta, is not convincing as the mentally unstable Karthi, primarily because the character isn't well etched".[7][8]

He was to act in director Shiva Gnanam's Deal later that year, but the cast and crew later changed with the film being renamed as Vaa Deal with Arun Vijay, which remains unreleased.[9] He worked on Rasu Madhuravan's Sogusu Perundhu co-starring Yuvan, Leema Babu and Liyasree, which stopped production after the director's death.[10][11]

In 2014, he helped promote his father's Vaalu by releasing promotional material.[12][13]
