The Joint Council for the Welfare of Immigrants (JCWI) is a London-based non-governmental organisation, working to protect the rights of people who have migrated to the United Kingdom and advocating for the progressive reform of the United Kingdom's immigration system [1].
JCWI was founded in 1967[2] by a group of 240 people representing a variety of immigrant, diaspora and racial justice groups in the UK. Today JCWI provides legal advice, undertakes legal casework on behalf of people subject to UK immigration law [3] and campaigns against racism and injustice in the immigration system. In 2020, JCWI was listed by Grazia Magazine as one of the 20 leading anti-racism charities in the US and UK [4].
