Jon Harle is a British former broadcaster, journalist and news reader who is best known for presenting various radio programmes for BBC Radio Newcastle, BBC Radio Cleveland and BBC Radio Cumbria.[1]

Life and career

Harle was born in Stonehouse, Gloucestershire. In 2002, Harle presented the late night phone-in 'The Northern Nights' on BBC Radio Newcastle, BBC Radio Cleveland and BBC Radio Cumbria.[2]

Harle won a Guinness World Record Award for the fastest time to recite the first verse of a song by a team of two in 7.06 seconds, alongside Sean Shannon, who recited alternate words of 'Rock Around the Clock' by Bill Haley and the Comets on 13 November 2008 as part of Guinness World Records Day.[3]

Harle regularly presented the weekly Sunday religious programme on BBC Radio Newcastle.[4]

Harle presented the drive-time news programme solo Monday to Thursdays on afternoons, before Anne Leuchars joined him as a co-host. The pair presented the show until 2016 on BBC Radio Newcastle.[5][6]
