Jon Jashni
Jon Jashni is an American media investor and content producer. He is a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences[1] and the Producers Guild of America[2] and is a Trustee Emeritus of the American Film Institute.[3]
Personal life and education[edit]
Jashni was born in Los Angeles, California. He attended the University of Southern California and graduated in 1984 with a BS in Corporate Finance. He also attended UCLA Anderson School of Management and graduated in 1987 with an MBA in Organizational Behavior.[4]
Career[edit]
In 1999 Jashni partnered with Kevin Burns to form Synthesis Entertainment, through which they have developed and produced content based upon the Irwin Allen estate properties[5] including the feature films Poseidon (2006) and Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea[6] as well as the television pilots The Time Tunnel (Fox, 2002) and Lost in Space (The WB Television Network, 2004). Jason was an executive producer of a 10-episode Netflix series of Lost in Space, released in 2018.[7][8][9]
From 2006-2016, Jashni served as President and Chief Creative Officer of Legendary Entertainment.[10][11] During that time, he worked as a producer and led the development team[12][13] on a number of Legendary film projects[14] including Kong: Skull Island,[15] The Great Wall (2016 film),[16] Warcraft,[17] Crimson Peak,[18] Godzilla (2014 film),[19] 42 (2013 Jackie Robinson biopic),[20] and Pacific Rim.[21] He also played a role in corporate dealings which included the $3.5 billion sale of Legendary to China's Dalian Wanda Group Co.[22][23]
Jashni created Raintree Ventures in 2016 as an investment fund for entertainment-related "immersive content and location-based ventures."[24]
