Jonathan Nicholas Smith (born 19 December 1975) is a British writer of fiction, non-fiction, screenplays, and musical theatre.
Early life[edit]
Of Irish heritage, Jon Smith was brought up in Merseyside, where he remained until he was eighteen. He studied for a degree in American Studies at the University of Reading which included a semester at the University of Texas, at Austin. After graduating in 1997, Smith spent a year in South Korea, teaching English as a foreign language.
Career[edit]
Returning to the UK in 1998, Smith was part of the launch team of Amazon.co.uk and went on to work at Kitbag.com, before launching his own online toy business called Toytopia in 2002. It was whilst working in the shop that Smith wrote first drafts of Toytopia and The Bloke's Guide To Pregnancy, which were both published in 2004. Smarter Business Start Ups and Web Sites That Work followed shortly after.
Smith was awarded a master's degree in Screenwriting in June 2012. He was Vice President, Marketing[1] at Whisbi until 2014. Jon Smith continues to work in the software industry and currently serves as Director of Marketing at Autocab. He also writes a regular column for Professional Driver Magazine[2].
Personal life[edit]
Jon married long-term partner Lisa Grant in 2003. They have two children; Alia and Ronin. Smith and Grant divorced in 2008. Smith married Elena Tsapochkina April 6, 2016. He currently lives in Wilmslow, North West England.
