Jonathan Adam Krane (born December 12, 1968) is an American businessman and author. He is the founder and CEO of Krane Funds Advisors, LLC the investment manager for KraneShares exchange traded funds (ETFs),[1][2] an asset managements which focuses on China themed ETFs.[3][4] He is also the principal owner of Queensboro FC, an American professional soccer team based in Queens, New York, which is a member of the USL Championship League.[5][6]

Early life and education[edit]

Krane grew up in Boston, Massachusetts. He majored in art history at Connecticut College and went on to Columbia Business School in New York City to pursue an MBA.[7]

Career[edit]

Krane moved to China in 2003 and started his own business, Emma Entertainment,[8] in the country shortly thereafter in partnership with China Poly Group. Under Krane's leadership, Emma Entertainment facilitated performances from multiple notable Western artists in China including The Rolling Stones First Concert in China. In 2007, Krane oversaw the sale of Emma Entertainment to Ticketmaster. Krane supervised the ticketing for the 2008 Beijing Summer Olympics.[9] Krane also ran in the Olympic torch relay at the games. In 2013, Krane founded KraneShares, an asset management firm that specializes in China-focused ETFs.[8][10] As of June 2022, the firm manages over $13 billion across 30 ETFs listed in New York, London, and Hong Kong. In July 2017, China International Capital Corporation acquired a 50.1% stake in Krane Funds Advisors LLC.[11] Krane has been an advocate for US-China business relations,[12][13][14]and In 2022 he authored the book The China Dream: How the Aspirations of Government, Business, and People are Driving the Greatest Transformation in History.[15]

Krane lives in New York City with his wife and two children.[2]
