Jonathan Anderson (hostel owner)

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Jonathan Anderson, also known professionally as President Anderson, is a Montreal-based entrepreneur, media producer, and hostel owner whose public life was shaped in part by his experience as a victim of violent crime in 2023.

Biography and Career

In the aftermath of a stabbing incident in August 2023, Anderson spoke about the lack of institutional support available to victims of violence, which informed his later projects in media, advocacy, and hospitality.[1]

He is the founder of Impact Narrative Media, a publishing and media imprint listed in Library and Archives Canada's ISBN Publisher Directory at 4460 Avenue Christophe-Colomb, Montreal.[2] In 2024, Anderson began releasing music under the stage name President Anderson. Several of these tracks were credited "℗ 2024 PVT Hostel" and "℗ 2024 Impact Narrative Records" on Apple Music, directly associating the artist identity with his business ventures in Montreal hospitality.[3][4]

Anderson has described founding two advocacy initiatives—Justice Sans Frontières and Immigration Sans Frontières—intended to address systemic gaps in access to justice and immigrant support in Canada.[citation needed]

In addition to his media and nonprofit activities, Anderson has been in the hospitality sector for over a decade. He is proprietor of the lodging located at 4460 Avenue Christophe-Colomb in Montreal's Plateau-Mont-Royal, which has operated under various names including Pied-À-Terre Mont-Royal, Auberge reBOOT Hostel, and PVT Hostel.[5][6] The property is listed in Quebec's official Bonjour Québec tourism registry.

Concept and Cultural Initiatives

Anderson has promoted a distinct cultural approach at PVT Hostel, positioning it not only as a place for accommodation but also as a creative venue. The hostel's public Booking.com listing notes: "At PVT Hostel, we turn guest reviews into music," referencing Anderson's practice of using musical compositions as a form of response to guest feedback.[7]

Under the President Anderson project, releases in 2024 carried credits linking them directly to PVT Hostel.[3] Anderson has publicly responded to guest inquiries on travel platforms using the "President Anderson" persona.[8]

August 2023 Stabbing Incident

On August 23, 2023, Anderson (then 48 years old) was working at his youth hostel on Christophe-Colomb Avenue when he was stabbed in the upper body during an altercation.[1][9] The incident occurred at the hostel near the intersection of Christophe-Colomb and Mont-Royal avenues in Montreal's Plateau-Mont-Royal borough.[10]

The 56-year-old suspect was arrested at the scene after Anderson identified him to responding Montreal police officers.[1] According to reports, the two men knew each other, and the incident may have stemmed from a conflict between them.[11]

Response and Aftermath

Anderson was transported to hospital with stab wounds to his upper body. His injuries were not considered life-threatening.[12][13][14] The suspect was taken into custody and faced criminal charges related to the assault.

Media Coverage

The stabbing incident received widespread coverage from major Montreal news outlets in both English and French, including CityNews Montreal, CTV News Montreal, Montreal Gazette, TVA Nouvelles, Journal de Montréal, Noovo Info, and La Presse Canadienne through various outlets.
