Jonathan Reed encounter

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

The Dr. Jonathan Reed Encounter was an alleged close encounter of the third kind with a supposed extraterrestrial being that occurred in Snoqualmie Pass, Washington, USA on October 15, 1996. The encounter involved Jonathan Reed, a self-proclaimed psychologist from Seattle, who was hiking that day with his dog, Suzy. During the hike, Suzy ran off, seemingly chasing an animal, and Reed followed. He claimed to have witnessed a "strange creature" grapple with and kill his dog, tearing it in half, followed by a series of traumatic and life-altering events. The case is today considered a hoax by many ufologists, partly due to the witness's questionable credentials (he was not a doctor with a conventional background), and the implausibility of the events. It even spawned a 2009 documentary film, *Odisea Link*, where Reed describes the case in detail. Furthermore, the team of the Syfy Television Series *Fact or Faked* suggested he fabricated the event, using a lie detector in a 2010 episode. Also, his real name is John Bradley Rutter, and he has been found to hold no PhDs or any college degrees. Last known to live in Seattle, Washington, he continues to attempt to hoax the public online in order to profit from his deception. The case and the true identity of "Dr. Jonathan Reed" was exposed as a scam by the well-known UFO investigation site Ufowatchdog.com.

Encounter

On October 15, 1996, Reed and his dog Suzy went for a hike in the Cascade Mountains, miles from his Seattle home. During the hike, Suzy ran ahead and disappeared from sight. Reed suspected she was chasing a small animal, but soon he felt worried that a large dangerous animal, like a bear, might have provoked his pet. Reed ran after her, picking up a large branch in case of any encounter. It was then that he came face-to-face with what left him "almost petrified." His dog was engaged in a vicious fight with a bizarre humanoid creature, about the size of a child, wearing a black garment that covered its entire body except for its head, which was oddly shaped and gray in color. In seconds, the seemingly small and weak entity tore the dog's head in half before her body turned to ashes. In response, Reed rushed forward and struck the creature's head with the branch, knocking it to the ground and seemingly killing it.

After the approximately ten-second attack, Reed became violently ill, feeling faint and vomiting repeatedly. He became extremely dizzy and began to doubt the reality of what he had witnessed, wondering if a bear or cougar could have killed his dog. Using the camera he had with him, he filmed the scene around him, focusing primarily on the body of the creature that had killed his pet. He also sighted and filmed a mysterious floating black obelisk shape, known simply as "the obelisk," which was nearby, presumably some kind of tool used by the creature according to one interview.

He later took the body back home and kept it in his freezer before falling asleep. The next day, he went to investigate it, feeling remorse for harming the being, which he now believed wasn't dead, just wounded. He filmed himself examining the body; however, he reported that he later obtained assistance from a friend and, after contacting the authorities, some men removed the body, ending the encounter. Both he and his friend claimed to have been stalked by these men. The whereabouts of the creature's body remain unknown. For Reed, the event had a profound impact, and he stated that his life had "changed forever."
