Jonathan Reed encounter
The Dr Jonathan Reed Encounter was an alleged close encounter of the third kind with a supposed extraterrestrial being that occurred in Snoqualmie Pass, Washington, USA on October 15, 1996. The encounter involved Jonathan Reed, a self alleged psychologist from Seattle going on a hike that day with his dog Suzy. During the hike Suzy ran off out of sight as if chasing an animal, to which Reed followed. He claimed that he witnessed in a matter of second a "strange creature" brawling with the dog and kill her but ripping her in half, followed by a series of traumatic and life-changing events. The case today is considered a hoax by many Ufologists, partly due to the nature of the witness not being a doctor who had always had a normal life as well as the case sounding too complex to be hoaxed. It even spawned Odisea Link, a 2009 documentary film where Reed describes the case in great detail. Although the team of the Syfy Television Series Fact or Faked suggested he hoaxed the event using a lie detector in a 2010 episode. Also, his real name is John Bradley Rutter and has been found to hold no Phd's or any College degrees at all. Last known to live in Seattle, Washington and continues to try and hoax the public on the internet in order to profit from his hoax. Encounter[edit]
On October 15, 1996 Reed and his dog Suzy went for a hike in the Cascade Mountains, miles from his Seattle Home. During the hike, Suzy ran ahead and took another path before she disappeared from sight. Reed suspected she was chasing a small animal, but soon he felt worried that maybe a large dangerous animal like a bear could have provoked his pet to run in for the attack. Reed ran after the direction his dog went, picking up a big tree branch in case of anything he would run into. It was then when he came face-to-face with what left him "almost pertrified." His dog was in a vicious fight with a bizarre humanoid creature that was around the size of a child wearing a black garment that covered its whole body apart from head, which was oddly shaped and gray in color. In seconds, the seemingly small and weak entity tore the dog's head in half before her body turned to ashes. In response to the shocking and confusing act of horror, Reed raced forward and slammed his branch into the head of the creature, knocking it to the earth and apparently killing it.
After the attack that lasted around ten seconds, Reed became ill to the point he could faint. He vomited several times and went incredibly dizzy. He began to believe he was hallucinating and that what he had just witnessed could not have been true, and that maybe a bear or cougar could have killed his dog which he just killed back. Using the camera he had with him he filmed the scene around him, focusing mostly on the body of the unknown killer of his pet. He also sighted and filmed a mysterious floating black obelisk shape, known as just "the obelisk" that was nearby, presumably some kind of toolbox the creature used according to one interview.
He later took the body back home and kept it in his freezer before falling asleep. The following day he went to investigate it since he actually felt bad for harming the being which he knew wasn't dead, just wounded. He filmed himself checking the body, however he reported that later he managed to get one friend to help him and after calling the authorities some men turned up and removed the body, thus ending the encounter, but both he and his friend claimed they were stalked by these men. The whereabouts of the creature's body remain unknown, but for Reed his life had "changed forever" he quoted, showing the great impact it had on him.
