Joom
Joom is a global e-commerce marketplace and mobile app that sells products from Asia and Europe directly to buyers in more than 100 countries.[1].
The platform is positioning itself as mobile first with 95% of transactions made through mobile app[2].
Joom was launched in 2016 in Riga, Latvia[3], where its headquarters are located. The company has offices in Moscow, Palo Alto (California, USA), Shenzhen (PRC), Luxembourg, and Hong Kong[4].
Joom is one of the fastest growing international e-commerce platforms in the world. Within less than 4 years of its existence, the company managed to reach more than 300 million downloads[5] across the globe.
According to Google, Joom became the most popular application for purchasing goods from China in 2016[6]. In 2018, Sensor Tower claimed Joom the most downloaded shopping app[7] in Europe with more than 56 million installs already in 2018.
History
Joom was launched in June 2016 and offers a website and a mobile app available for both Android and iOS[8].
In 2017, the marketplace arrived in Europe with the first French brands connected to the platform[9].
In January 2018, Joom established its own logistics company Joom Logistics[2] considerably facilitating the delivery process and improving its quality. In 2019, the company opened an Istanbul branch of Joom Logistics[10]
As of early 2020, Joom offered 10 million products and had 25 million active users per month.[8] and 20 million active buyers. The mobile app had a total of more than 300 million installs (iOS + Android)[5]
Joom sees its future in Europe making up to 50% of its global GMV here, compared to 45% in the Russian market[4].
