Jordan Tappis (born July 25, 1979) is an American film director, producer and music executive.

Music[edit]

Jordan Tappis formed Record Collection, a label, management and music production company, in 2002 as a joint venture with Warner Bros. Records. Record Collection has released music from artists such as John Frusciante, The Walkmen, Blake Mills, Dawes, Murs, yMusic,[1][2] Black Knights and Har Mar Superstar along with film soundtracks such as Spiderman 3,[3] Sprout,[4] 21 and Wassup Rockers. Record Collection management clients have included Blake Mills, John Frusciante, Matt Sweeney, Dawes, Fiona Apple, Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy, Cass McCombs and Jesca Hoop. Record Collection has produced a variety of documentary film projects including God Bless Ozzy Osbourne[5][6] (Showtime), the Webby Award Nominated series 'Sound & Vision' (Red Bull) and the Cannes Lions winning short film 'SAT-JF14'.[7]

Film/TV[edit]

In 2012, Jordan Tappis, along with his partner, House of Cards creator and show-runner Beau Willimon, launched Westward Productions,[8] a full-service film and television production company. Recent Westward projects include the Natgeo documentary series 'The Walk Around The World',[9] 'Curt',[10][11] a film about autistic competitive surfer Curt Harper and 'Westerly',[12] the story of Australian surf icon Peter Drouyn's controversial transformation into Westerly Windina. In 2014, Westward released A Master Builder,[13] a collaboration between Andre Gregory and Wallace Shawn, based on the Henrik Ibsen play and directed by Jonathan Demme.

In 2015, Tappis directed and executive produced 'The Walk Around The World',[14][15] for the National Geographic Channel. 'The Walk Around The World'[16] is part 1 of a multi-part documentary series following former British paratrooper Karl Bushby's record-breaking quest to walk the longest unbroken footpath in human history. Also in 2015, Tappis directed the feature documentary 'Johnny Cash American Rebel',[17][18] for CMT/Freemantle Media. Johnny Cash American Rebel tells the story of Johnny Cash through 10 of his most iconic songs. The film features a cast that includes Roseanne Cash, John Carter Cash, Merle Haggard, Kris Kristofferson, Rick Rubin and Willie Nelson among others. 'Johnny Cash American Rebel' was the highest rated documentary in CMT's history and won Leo Awards[19] for Best Feature Length Documentary Program and Best Musical Score.
