Josefina "Pining" Galang-Gatlabayan (born Josefina Galang) is a Filipina politician who is the Vice Mayor of Antipolo[1] since 2016. She previously served as the councilor of Antipolo's Second District for one term.
Political career[edit]
She started her political career when she ran as representative of the city's first district in 2004 but lost to then-DILG Secretary Ronaldo "Ronnie" Puno.[2] In the same year, during election campaign period, her car was shot by unidentified man before she attends a campaign rally.[3]
In 2013, she ran as councilor and won, serving until 2016.
In 2016, she ran as vice mayor and won against former Vice Mayor Danilo Leyble.[4]
In 2019, she ran again as vice mayor[5] and won unopposed.[6]
During election period, Mayor Casimiro Ynares III asked his constituents to support his wife, Andrea Bautista-Ynares, who ran as mayor along with Gatlabayan as her running-mate. Ynares also asked for the support of their team for improvement and betterment of their city.[7]
In 2022, she ran again[8] and won.[9][10]
Antipolo First District Councilor Susana Garcia-Say posted a photo of her together with Gatlabayan and the councilors during a dinner meal after they held a special council session. According to the post, Gatlabayan treat them dinner after the said session.[11]
In 2023, in behalf of Mayor Casimiro Ynares III, she received the city's award as the Most Business-Friendly Component City in the Philippines during the 49th Philippine Business Conference and Expo “Vision 2050: the Philippines A First-World Economy” organized by the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry held at the Manila Hotel.[12]
