Joseph Adams Sr. (February 9, 1626 – December 6, 1694) was a British colonial farmer.[1] He was the great-grandfather of the second U.S. President, John Adams, and the great-great-grandfather of the sixth President, John Quincy Adams.
Early life and marriage[edit]
Adams was born on February 9, 1626 in Braintree, Essex, England, the son of Henry Adams (1583–1646) and Edith Squire (1587–1672/73).[2] In 1652, he married Abigail Baxter, daughter of Gregory Baxter and Margaret Paddy, with whom he had a son, Joseph Adams Jr.
