Joshua Lee Axe (born August 18 1981) is an American radio host, doctor of natural medicine, chiropractor and a professional on naturopathy. He has been a health advisor for many athletes. In 2009 he began working with the Wellness Advisory Council and the University of Michigan Swim Team.[1][2] Axe is also married to Chelsea Axe. Axe, who started his Nashville-based functional media website in 2008, has cultivated the site to reach over 12 million monthly visitors.[3]
In 2008 Dr. Axe founded Exodus Health Center, it quickly grew to more than 1,000 patients per week.[4] Dr. Axe has been a regular guest expert on the Dr. Oz Show covering such topics as the gut microbiome, weight loss, digestive health and herbal medicine.[5] He's a co-founder of BurstFit training program alongside with his wife, Chelsea. Dr. Axe is the visionary behind several cutting-edge and premium nutraceutical brands, including Ancient Nutrition, Axe Organics, NUMA Essentials and ProBiome Rx.[6]
Dr. Axe, along with Jordan Rubin (CEO of Axe Wellness), are the founders of the Ancient Nutrition supplement company that produces bone broth protein powder.[7]
Early life[edit]
Axe was born in Troy, Ohio, where he grew up playing soccer.[8] Later he joined the triathlon team at the University of Kentucky, and worked as a personal trainer.[8] His inspiration on medicine and natural health came when he was a child and saw his mother diagnosed with breast cancer.[9]
