Josh Roush (born November, 11th 1984) is an Ohio born writer, filmmaker,[1] and podcaster currently living in North Hollywood, California. He is the Media-Tech for Kevin Smith & Ralph Garman's podcast Hollywood Babble-On and co-hosts his own movie themed podcast The Soapbox Office. In June 2016 Roush began writing for the movie website Screen Rant, drawing 1.2 million hits for his first five articles in just under one month.[2]

Career[edit]

Roush spends much of his free time digitally archiving rare footage and releasing it for free on the internet, including a documentary on Hunter S. Thompson.[3][4] The Clevescene website referred to Roush as a "multimediatician" when covering his efforts to bring the Cleveland horror show host Ghoulardi into the digital world.[4] Other digital editing work includes a "fan edit" version of the Evil Dead Trilogy covered by both the A.V. Club and Yahoo! after it was released.[5][6]

Personal projects[edit]

Among his personal projects, he shot the title sequence for Green Day's documentary Heart Like a Hand Grenade,[7] directed Michael Parks in the band To No End's music video "Twisted Knives",[8][9] and was a cinematographer for Kevin Smith and Jason Mewes' Epix special, Jay and Silent Bob Go Down Under.[10]

In June 2016, he released The Mission,[11][12] his latest in a line of short films dubbed the "Benefits of a Small Town" series.[13] The Mission was an "Official Selection" by both the North Hollywood Cinefest and the Hollywood Reel Independent Film Festival.[11][13]
