Career[edit]

Smith was gifted his first guitar at age three and at six he started taking guitar lessons. Since he was young he listened to some artists that led him to the blues such as Muddy Waters, B.B. King, Albert King and T-Bone Walker and saw live the Allman Brothers, Rolling Stones and Bruce Springsteen. By the early age of 12, he began playing at professional blues jams in South Florida with musicians such as Jimmy Thackery, Tinsley Ellis, Kenny Neal, Lucky Peterson, Matt "Guitar" Murphy, Johnny "Clyde" Copeland, Double Trouble, Joanna Connor and Kim Simmonds, among others.[4] At the age of 16 he recorded his first album Woodsheddin' with his power trio, featuring him on vocals and guitar. Three years later he already did four national tours with his band and recorded two albums, so he was asked to support blues' legend B.B. King in some of his shows.

In 2002 Josh moved to Los Angeles and performed with blues singer Ricky Fanté for the next two years.

Between 2006 and 2009 Josh was hired by 2006 American Idol winner Taylor Hicks as the lead guitarist of his backup band until Grammy Award winner Raphael Saadiq wanted Josh to tour with him. Meanwhile he released two studio CDs that made he sign with CrossCut Records in 2010 that published his music until 2015.

In 2019 Smith start hi career as producer at Flat V Studios, that he owns, in Los Angeles.[5]

Josh currently lives in Los Angeles with his wife and son.[6]
