Alvares went on to the Indus Valley School of Art & Architecture from where she graduated with distinction in 2016. She was also awarded the Abu Shamim Areff award by the university. In 2017, Alvares won the Imran Mir Art Prize. The prize ceremony was held on 23 January 2017 at the studio/gallery home of the late artist.
Alvares used to walk around in her area Karachi Cantonment using a video camera to record her subjects. Later she began using a bike to get around. She lived in that area all her life and wanted to explore it. Later she chose to use stills rather than video footage for inspiration.
Her portraits of Madam Noor Jehan and Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan were on display at the Canvas Gallery in May 2016. She "chose the frames first and then worked with paint sand acrylic for these portraits".
