Juan Devis

Juan Devis was born in Colombia in 1971. He is a film and television Producer, writer, cultural consultant and artist. He currently serves as the Chief Creative Officer [1] of KCET and KOCE a position that he has held since 2018. Previously to that, Devis worked as the Chief Creative Officer and Senior Vice President for KCETLink Public Media.

Devis received his Masters in Fine Arts from California Institute of the Arts and his bachelor's degree from Emerson College in Boston.

Devis works on producing and developing programs with a basis in the arts, documentary [2] and community involvement. Some recent programs include Executive Producer of Broken Bread [3] starring Roy Choi, which won a James Media Beard Award in 2020. [4] Devis is also the Executive Producer the popular Southern California Arts series Artbound [5] Lost LA, Night Shift, The Migrant Kitchen among many others.

He has won 18 Emmy Awards for his work.[6] [7] Devis and his team have also won The Japan Prize for the documentary multi-media series Departures [8]

As a writer, Devis has worked for companies such as ABC Disney from 2004-2007 developing his feature film script Welcome to Tijuana[9] and also wrote for the daily daytime television show One Live To Live. From 1998 to 2000 Devis also worked at the television station Telemundo writing the half-hour weekly series Placas [10]

Devis has had his art and multimedia projects shown in galleries worldwide, including Espacio Telefónica in Buenos Aires, USC, the American Film Institute, the United Nations Global Summit on the Information Society, among others.

Devis also has served as a board member for various cultural institutions such as the California Arts Council[11] and the California Historical Society. [12]
