Career

Judy Gelles' focus on cataloging people and places stems from her interest in mapping geography, architecture, and social organization, especially within family structures. Her ongoing series, The Fourth Grade Project (2008–present), is one of her most known works as she focuses on the minds of a variety of children. Other series like Beach Huts (2015), Beach Boxes (2002), Trailer Park (1999–2005), and Family Portrait (1977–1982) take a similar approach, focusing on space and questions pertaining to modern differences.
