Julien Solomita is an American YouTuber and internet personality. Solomita hosted a podcast girlfriend Jenna Mourey, better known as YouTuber Jenna Marbles, and streams on Twitch. He has over one million subscribers on his personal channel.

Career[edit]

YouTube[edit]

Solomita's YouTube channel, "julien solomita", began as Solomita's girlfriend encouraged him to create his own YouTube videos. His initial videos were mostly vlog-based content in addition to a series called "Last Minute Trips" with Collin Duddy on their shared YouTube channel LMT.[2][3] "Last Minute Trips" featured Solomita and Duddy throwing darts at a map to decide where to take an impromptu trip to.[4] In 2015, Solomita briefly garnered media attention for filming an unidentified flying object, later determined to be a missile.[5][6] In 2016, Solomita's YouTube short film, "What Is A Vlog?", premiered at the Buffer Festival in Toronto, Ontario.[7]

As of 2020, the content of Solomita's channel had shifted from vlogs towards cooking videos that he refers to as "Aries Kitchen". As part of Aries Kitchen, Solomita cooks a variety of vegan and gluten-free foods.[8][9] In late June 2020, Solomita announced he would take a break from his YouTube channel to take care of girlfriend Jenna Mourey after her departure from the platform.[10]

Jenna Julien Podcast[edit]

From 2014 to 2020, Solomita had a podcast with Mourey called The Jenna Julien Podcast.[11][12] Mourey and Solomita refer to their fans as the 'Dink Fam' as a reference to the intro music of the podcast.[13] In June 2020, Mourey left the podcast. Solomita posted five solo podcast episodes before he and Mourey announced the end of the podcast on August 17, 2020.[14][15]

Twitch[edit]

Solomita shared a Twitch channel with Mourey, formerly called 'jennajulien'. The two streamed mainly gaming content, playing games such as PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds (PUBG).[16][17] On August 6, 2020, following Mourey's departure from the internet, Solomita streamed on the Twitch channel alone for the first time. He later changed the Twitch channel's name to 'julien' to reflect Mourey's absence from the channel.[18]

Awards[edit]

In 2017, Solomita was a finalist for Vlogger of the Year at the Shorty Awards.[19] The same year, Solomita and Mourey won best YouTube ensemble at the Shortys.[20] In 2018, Solomita and Mourey were co-nominated for Twitch Streamer of the Year at the 10th annual Shorty Awards.[21]

2017 Shorty Awards Vlogger of the Year Nominated [22]

Personal Life[edit]

Solomita is vegan and has lived with celiac disease for most of his life.[24] He and Mourey have four dogs: Marbles, Kermit, Peach, and Bunny, a rescue greyhound.[25]

Solomita does Brazilian jiu-jitsu.[17] In 2018, he earned his purple belt.
