Career

Jurgi Camblong was born in Bayonne in the French Basque Country. He holds a PhD in Life Sciences from the University of Geneva, and an EMBA in Management of Technology from EPFL and HEC Lausanne.[1] In 2008, he moved to the University of Oxford as a post-doctoral researcher at the Sir William Dunn School of Pathology.[2][3]

Sophia Genetics

Jurgi Camblong founded Swiss-based Sophia Genetics in 2011, a health-tech company whose purpose is to democratize data-driven medicine.[1][2]

The company specializes in the analysis of genomic data and developed Sophia, a platform based on artificial intelligence, which transforms patients' clinical data into information that can be used by healthcare professionals to understand the cause behind diseases.[5] In addition to genomic data, the platform aggregates and analyzes radiomic data to help diagnose patients with cancer and rare genetic disorders, monitor cancer progression and treatment success, and guide precision treatment.[6]

Under the aegis of Jurgi Camblong, Sophia Genetics has won a number of innovation awards[7][8] and raised several hundred million US dollars in successive fundraisings.[9][10]

In 2018, the company opened its US headquarters in Boston, Massachusetts.[11]
