As a free agent from the Jackals, Bernhardt opted to extend his ECHL career in agreeing to a one-year deal with the Colorado Eagles on September 14, 2016.[5] Despite a successful training camp with the Eagles, Bernhardt was released from his contract prior to the opening night on October 13, 2016.[6]
