Career
Media and games industry
Before working in venture capital, Keeling worked in the gaming, media and technology sectors in Japan, the United States and the United Kingdom, including for the BBC, Comcast and Fox Interactive Media.[3]
Keeling was managing director of IGN UK, a division of Fox Interactive Media, leaving the role in February 2010.[4] In July 2010 he joined UTV Ignition Entertainment as head of global strategy and product. According to MCV, he had previously worked at IGN and served as editorial director at the television network G4.[5]
Lumikai
Keeling and Salone Sehgal founded Lumikai, which was launched in 2020 as a venture capital fund for the Indian games market.[6] Trade publications described it as India's first venture capital fund dedicated to gaming and interactive media.[7]
At the launch, Keeling and Sehgal said the fund planned about 20 early-stage investments, with cheque sizes ranging from $200,000 to $2 million, and that they had met more than 140 founders during the first half of 2020.[8]
The first fund raised $40 million in 2020.[9] In June 2023 the firm announced a second fund with a target of $50 million. The fund had completed a first close, with investors including Mixi, Colopl, Krafton, Smilegate, Supercell and Nazara Technologies.[10] Reuters reported that the fund would invest at pre-seed to Series A stages in digital content, intellectual property and user-generated-content platforms, and quoted Keeling, then a founding general partner, as saying that global investors had shown considerable inbound interest in the Indian market.[11]
