Justin P. Barrett

Justin P. Barrett (born November 9, 1983) is an American entrepreneur, inventor and artist. He is Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Eyesafe, formerly Healthe, a company addressing the issues of device screen time and high-energy blue light.[1][2]. Eyesafe was named to the Inc. 5000 List of Fastest-Growing Companies in 2021[3]. Barrett was named Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Semi-Finalist in 2016[4]. He was previously Co-Founder and CEO of Heroic, and Founder and CEO of Holy Cow. Barrett was born and raised in Edina, Minnesota[5]. He attended the University of Minnesota’s Carlson School of Management where he received his bachelor’s degree. He produces artwork including oil paint and NFT collections[6].

Career

In 2007, Barrett founded Holy Cow, an organic cotton clothing company selling apparel to retailers including Nordstrom and Whole Foods[7]. He founded Holy Cow to create a product that appeals to a mass audience while also falling under the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS)[7]. The product line included casual wear for men, women and children. The company aimed to make clothing that was healthier for people and the planet[8]. In 2011, he co-founded Heroic, a company that connected businesses with customers through close network social referrals[9]. The company was compared to Match.com and Elance.com for contractors by taking the personal referral network online[10]. Heroic was runner up in the High Tech Division of the Minnesota Cup[5]. In 2013, Barrett co-founded Eyesafe, formerly Healthe with Dr. Steven Moe.

Eyesafe

Founded in 2013 and previously known as Healthe, Eyesafe creates display standards, display technology and screen filters to address device usage, screen time, and the impacts of blue light-emitting devices[11]. Eyesafe technology and the associated intellectual property portfolio was developed by eye doctors, engineers and scientists for use by the major device brands, beginning with Dell in 2019[12][13]. Eyesafe creates product solutions for device manufacturers including HP, Dell, Lenovo, Acer, Gigabyte, LG Display, and BOE[14][15]. The company is headquartered in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Barrett is inventor on patents for display technology, digital devices and light management.
