From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Justin Samuels is an American activist, screenwriter, and producer. He is best known for his debut feature film Wine Tasting.

Early life

Samuels was born in Elmhurst, NY. He loved the humanities and social sciences growing up. He graduated with a BA in History from Cornell University, and later graduated with a MA in English Education from Columbia University.

Career

Samuels began writing news articles for OpEdNews in 2011.[1] In 2011, Samuels was an activist for increasing diversity in the film industry.[2] Things became extremely controversial in his life after major Hollywood bloggers/screenwriters such as John August discussed and criticized his outspoken activism.[3] Even the Black List's Go Into the Story blog mentioned him.[4] At this same time, he was heavily involved with Occupy Wall Street. He helped plan Occupy Central Park.[5] Lee Stranahan of Breitbart fame frequently cited his work, as Stranahan was covering Occupy Wall Street at the time.[6] After the notoriety of his actions to bring attention to the marginalization of filmmakers of color subsided, he moved on to other things.[7] In 2016, Wine Tasting's screenplay was a finalist in the Beverly Hills Film Festival Script Competition. In 2017, Wine Tasting was filmed and released.[8]
