Justin Jay Natividad Taller (born April 12, 1996), known as Justin Taller, is a Filipino music influencer, singer, and songwriter. He is known for his vocal teaching videos and other music-related topics on his social media accounts. He has over a million followers on TikTok and around 300,000 followers on Facebook. Justin consistently uploads song covers using only his voice and mouth, inspired by the Pentatonix a cappella group. He loves engaging with his followers while willingly sharing everything he knows about music.

Aside from being a musician, Justin is also a full-time Software Engineer. He uses his corporate income to support his musical journey.

Career

Early Life

During his childhood, Justin fell in love with music and singing the classic Filipino way: through karaoke. With every cheer from his loved ones – his grandmother and mother-side relatives who served as his first audiences – during family reunions and gatherings, Justin found his passion for music further ignited. With every word of encouragement from his mother, motivating him to perform at every opportunity possible and supporting his dream every step of the way, he realized his desire to perform with the gift of his voice.

Five Justins

Pentatonix inspired Justin to try his hand at doing a cover featuring five of his own voices. Thus, the one-man challenge to produce five Justins was born. Recording the vocals, filming, mixing, and mastering the entire thing – Justin persevered and did it all. Once he uploaded his one-man-five-voices cover of the Evolution of Filipino Music on YouTube. This is his own version of Pentatonix’s Evolution of Music.

Coach Justin

Justin experimented a lot. “I just uploaded videos,” he remarks, a testament to his relentlessness, even when the views on his Facebook and YouTube videos dwindled. When that happened, he naturally felt discouraged. “I got lazy. But then I thought back to my big why. Why was I doing this? For views? No! It’s because I love doing it,” he enthuses. “Because of that love, I’ve never stopped making music and videos. I’m not going to stop now.” And as though the universe conspired to motivate him and tell him “keep going!”, one comment on one of the videos he uploaded pushed him to find his true purpose: “idol, how do I become a good singer like you?” “It dawned on me that many people wanted to learn how to sing, but they couldn’t afford to pay for a proper vocal coach,” he says somberly. “And I know exactly how they feel. I was them. “Then I suddenly realized, what if I was born not for joining singing contests and songwriting competitions, not to perform for live audiences, but to instead spread the love of music further by helping these people who can’t afford music lessons take steps to reach their ultimate goal?”

Personal life

Justin studied elementary at Caloocan Elementary School and high school at Lakandula High School in Tondo, Manila. Justin Jay Taller took Computer Engineering at Universidad de Manila.[citation needed]

Religion

At a young age, Justin was a former member of the San Roque Cathedral Ministry of Altar Servers at San Roque Parish Cathedral. As he grew up, he gradually embraced the Evangelical Christian belief. His current ministerial work in the Christian Church is as a worship leader, using his singing talent to glorify God.

Songs

Kabanalan

This is a worship song that encourages backsliders or people who have lapsed morally or in the practice of religion to realize that God is still waiting for them to come back into his arms.

Dos Mil Veinte

A rap song Justin released during the onset of the pandemic, which tells a story about what happened in 2020, or Dos Mil Veinte in Spanish as the title suggests.

Dekada

Justin Taller's latest release "DEKADA" was influenced by the concept of One True Love. The song pretty much represents how a person could only give what they can offer to the person that they truly love the most. The song is somewhat tragic, after looking and not finding the same love. An experience of staying "faithful" even after losing someone over something and being alone in the end. Throughout our lifetime we can experience a different kind of love but never the same kind of "love" twice.
