K. Anand Kumar
Dr. K. Anand Kumar is an Indian biotechnologist who serves as the Managing Director of Indian Immunologicals Limited (IIL), a subsidiary of the National Dairy Development Board. [1][2][3]
Early life and education
Dr. K. Anand Kumar earned a B.Sc. in Zoology and an M.Sc. in Applied Microbiology from PSG College of Arts and Science. He completed his Ph.D. in Microbiology at an ICMR-affiliated institute in Puducherry. [1]
Career
Kumar has worked in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries in India and overseas. His earlier roles include positions at Pfizer in Australia, Schering Plough in New Zealand, and Wockhardt in India. He later joined Indian Immunologicals Limited, where he is a whole-time director and Managing Director. His work has included oversight of vaccine development and manufacturing across human and animal health, as well as participation in national committees related to biotechnology and vaccine standards.[4][5][6][7][8]
Recognition
Kumar received an Honorary Doctor of Science (D.Sc.) from the Saveetha Institute of Medical and Technical Sciences. He has also been recognised by organisations such as the Rotary Club of Pollachi, which presented him with the Vocational Excellence Award (2023–24).[7][9][10]
