Kiarash Ahadi (Persian: کیارش احدی; born SEP 11, 1985 in Tehran , Iran ) known professionally as KIIA is a Canadian singer and songwriter from Toronto. Kiia’s calling is to write passionate, uplifting and sensual music that inspires people to pursue their dreams and live their truth.
Early life[edit]
Kiarash Ahadi, better known by his stage name “KIIA”, is a Toronto based singer- songwriter originally from Tehran, Iran. Musically inclined, he discovered his passion for music at a very young age and started his musical journey by playing the traditional Persian instruments Setar and Tar from the age of seven. By eleven years old, KIIA was already regularly performing for large crowds and his desire to share his music with others was evident. In 1998, his family emigrated to Toronto. The move to a new country was tough, with many cultural and personal challenges, but it also opened the door to a new life, one that included learning guitar and beginning to write his own music.
Career[edit]
KIIA started expressing himself through writing at a very young age. He recorded his first song by the age of twenty-one. This venture into songwriting inspired Kiia and bandmate Farshid to create Empire Eleven, a bilingual Farsi-English band, in 2014. The duo released four songs and three music videos between 2014 and 2017. Their single “Fantasy” received over 2 million plays collectively worldwide, and Empire Eleven’s music videos are still played on satellite tv channels around the world.
One of the ways KIIA has sought to make a difference with his music is using it to bridge the gap between east and west. Empire Eleven started this work in 2014. By 2018, wanting to continue it and share more of his own voice, Kiia began pursuing a career as a solo artist. KIIA independently released singles “Papa” and “Touch Me” in 2018, followed by “Never Let You Go” in 2019. Working with artists such as Kayo and Rupert Gayle on his debut solo album, KIIA’s highly anticipated EP “Love in Every Language” is set to be released later this year.
Artistry[edit]
KIIA describes his sound as RnB House, Electro Pop and RnB Pop with a sprinkle of Eastern Flavour. His distinctive touch of intertwining Electronic production with Eastern melodies & vocal harmonies gives his sound a unique and exotic flavour… the perfect clash between East and West! Having written all his own songs both as a solo artist and for the band, Empire Eleven, KIIA is quickly establishing himself as a World-class songwriter & lyricist. He’s wrote hit songs for World-class artists such as Yas and Dia to name a few and worked with distinguished writers such as Rupert Gayle and Kayo on his debut album. His highly anticipated EP “Love in Every Language” is set to be released in early 2020!
