KRI Rigel is the newest oceanographic ship in the Indonesian Navy and the lead of her class. The ship was built by the OCEA shipyard, Les Sables-d'Olonne, France. KRI Rigel takes its name from the brightest star in the constellation of Orion. Currently KRI Rigel is the most advanced military oceanographic ship in ASEAN. Her sister ship is KRI Spica (934).[1]
