KX CHR, real name Farid Kadaben (born 27 July 1995 in Laval), is a French hard techno DJ and record producer originating from Le Mans.[1][2].
Biography
Early life and influences
Farid Kadaben was born on 27 July 1995 in Laval, Mayenne, and grew up in Le Mans, Sarthe. He was introduced to electronic music during childhood through his parents, listening to 1990s Eurodance and dance music on family road trips. Early musical influences include acts such as 2 Unlimited and Haddaway's "What Is Love"[3]
Career (2018–present)
Kadaben began his music career in 2018 within the free party culture and underground rave scene in western France[2]. Performing in sound system environments influenced his high-energy performance style.
In 2022, he adopted the stage name KX CHR and began releasing original compositions before signing with professional hard techno record labels.[4]. He maintains his primary production studio in Le Mans[3]
Media coverage
Since 2024, KX CHR's career has been covered by regional, national, and music trade media. Regional press coverage includes feature articles in Ouest-France[2][5] and La Dépêche du Midi[6]. In February 2026, French public television channel France 3 (Pays de la Loire edition) broadcast a video interview and feature filmed at the acoustic laboratory of Le Mans University[1][3]. International electronic music publications, including EDMTunes[4], The DJ Sessions[7], and Rave Jungle[8], have also covered his label debuts and single releases.
Musical style
KX CHR's sound is primarily rooted in high-tempo hard techno, typically ranging between 150 and 160 BPM, characterized by heavy percussion and progressive tension building.[3]. His tracks blend hard techno structures with elements of bass music, hardstyle, dubstep, and drum and bass[4], frequently incorporating recognizable vocal samples inspired by pop, hip-hop, and Eurodance[3]
